TATE BRITAIN
Terrazzo by Agglotech

London, United Kingdom

The Tate Britain in London, one of the most prestigious art galleries in the United Kingdom, chose Agglotech for the restoration and modernization of its flooring and internal staircases. The architectural project, blending classical elegance and modern lines, placed Venetian terrazzo at the heart of the interiors, introducing a modern material that complements the gallery’s historic character.

SB 178 Bianco Carrara 09 - SB 106 Nero - REG 1420

For the the floors and stairs, three distinct Agglotech terrazzo colors were selected. SB 178 Bianca Carrara 09, with a light cement base and medium-sized Carrara marble chippings, provides luminosity and visual continuity. SB 106 Nero, elegant and deep, was used to create geometric contrasts that enrich the overall design, while REG 1420, featuring a bold tone and dark marble flakes, enhances architectural details and the profiles of the spiral staircase.
The combination of these tones creates a harmonious interplay of contrasts between light and dark, enhanced by natural light filtering through the museum’s central dome. The outcome result is a refined and timeless space, where the tradition of Venetian terrazzo meets the grandeur of British architecture.
