ROYAL ACADEMY OF ARTS
Terrazzo by Agglotech

London, United Kingdom

The Royal Academy of Arts, Britain’s oldest art school, underwent a major renovation project starting in 2001, curated by the David Chipperfield Architects studio.
For this prestigious project, the studio relied on Agglotech and the exclusive UK partner InOpera Group for the supply of Venetian terrazzo destined for flooring, stairs and solid block elements.

CUSTOM - REG 2222 - REG 2500

For the exhibition gallery and some common areas, InOpera Group supplied the colorations REG 2222 and REG 2500, two custom-made variants created by Agglotech with Bianco Carrara and Botticino marble granules, perfectly in harmony with the building’s classical and refined style.
Exclusively for the Benjamin West Lecture Theatre, Agglotech created solid block terrazzo staircases with a thickness of 20 cm, obtained directly from the block and subsequently cut and shaped in the factory. An elegant Calacatta Lincoln marble inlay completes the project, adding an artistic detail of great value.
This intervention represents a perfect example of Agglotech’s versatility and craftsmanship, capable of combining contemporary design with respect for historical architecture in one of the symbolic venues of British art.
